Trump’s winning of the 2016 presidential election was a masterful application of all his lying techniques. He knew that angry white people (AWP) are the easiest people to lie to. And these were precisely the people he conned into getting himself elected.

The great thing about angry white people is that they are driven by identity, not ideology. They may say the want smaller government, lower taxes, and a ban on immigration. But what they really want is a strong white man telling them that the are being threatened because they are white and he can make things better.

And this is where Trump excels. He knows that as long as he is playing to their anger and rage, nothing he says needs to make sense. He can say any absurd thing he wants in a debate, and angry white people will love him that much more.

AWPs are easy to lie to because they are willing to believe that they are being cheated out of something. They’ll believe immigrants are taking their jobs; the government is making their healthcare too expensive; wall street is stealing all their money.

In fact, their only real problem is that they don’t know how to wipe their own asses, let alone take care of themselves and their families. They are perfect fodder for liars like Trump.

The last thing they want is to think about governance and good candidates. They just want someone to tell them that someone is out to screw them over and Trump is the only one who can protect them.

The best part is that they have no idea whom they have voted for. They think they have voted for an ideology. But what they have really voted for is an identity, and that identify has shown that he will do what he wants regardless of what anyone else thinks.
